Hi, I’m Jodie - a PACT accredited dog trainer & instructor. I specialise in working with rescue dogs and legally restricted (“banned”) breeds, while supporting dogs of all ages.

I offer 1-2-1, reward-based training across Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Teignmouth, Newton Abbot, Totnes and serving South Devon - from choosing the right breed or preparing for a puppy, through to adolescent and adult behaviour. My training is practical, compassionate and tailored to both you and your dog, helping you build calm, confidence and clear communication from the start.

Here's How My 1-2-1 Training Can Help You!

Helping you understand your dog, reduce stress, and build lifelong bonds.

All training is delivered through personalised 1-2-1 Sessions take place in your home and local area, and can include quiet outdoor spaces where appropriate, working wherever you & your dog feel most comfortable.

Working in: Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Teignmouth, Newton Abbot, Totnes & serving South Devon (A small fee of 45p per mile may apply)

All new clients begin with an initial personalised 1-2-1 training session.

This is a focused, practical session designed to give you clarity and real progress from the start.

We’ll discuss your dog’s history, current challenges, and your goals. I’ll observe your dog’s behaviour, begin training straight away, and give you clear, practical guidance you can start using immediately.

You’ll leave feeling reassured and confident about what to do next. My standard initial session fee is £80.

Afterwards, we’ll decide together whether follow-up support would be helpful. There’s no pressure - just honest recommendations based on your goals and budget.

If specialist clinical behaviour support is needed, I will always advise and refer appropriately.

My banned XL Bully breed as a puppy (pre-vaccinations)

Choosing a Puppy - or Just Brought One Home? (Pre-Vaccinations)

Exciting… and sometimes overwhelming.

Are you still choosing a breed or preparing to collect your puppy?

Early guidance helps you get it right from day one.

Is your puppy is already home but not yet fully vaccinated?

This is the ideal time to build calm, confident foundations.

We focus on toilet training, routines, settling, puppy biting, early socialisation, relationship building, confidence development, and basic obedience foundations.

You’ll gain clear guidance, practical steps, and reassurance - so you’re not left figuring it out alone.

My XL Bully breed (post-vaccinations) ready to explore the world

Starting walks and real-world adventures - but unsure how to handle it all?

Is recall unreliable? Lead pulling creeping in? Unsure how to socialise your puppy without overwhelming them?

These tailored 1-2-1 sessions help your puppy develop real-world skills at their own pace.

We can work on recall, loose lead walking, positive socialisation, self-control, social skills, focus & engagement, and anything else that supports your puppy’s development.

All the foundations of a class - with dedicated, tailored attention.

Puppy Ready to Explore? (Post-Vaccinations)

1-2-1 dog trainer and owner - working on recall, impulse control & basic obedience with Annie the Bull-Breed cross.

I understand that with busy lives, weekly group classes aren’t always practical - and they’re not right for every dog.

Adopted a rescue who's still settling in?

With professional rescue rehabilitation experience, I specialise in supporting dogs through the transition into family life, with time, structure & understanding - I build confidence, trust, and stability step by step.

Do you have a legally restricted (‘banned’) breed and feel your training options are limited?

I am fully insured to work with legally restricted breeds, offering private 1-2-1 training that works responsibly within legal guidelines.

You deserve access to ethical, professional support - and your dog deserves the chance to thrive.

We focus on what matters most to you: reliable recall, loose lead walking, general obedience, reducing jumping up, calmness and settling, building focus and engagement, confidence, and strengthening your relationship.

Every session is structured, supportive, and designed to give you the knowledge and practical skills to feel confident handling your dog every day.

Adolescents & Adult Dogs (6 Months+)

After your initial training session, follow-up sessions are tailored to you and your dog’s individual needs.

Each in-person session is personalised and practical, giving you hands-on coaching and clear guidance that fits your lifestyle.

After every session, you’ll receive written notes, videos and straightforward handouts so you know exactly what to focus on. Check-ins between sessions can be scheduled to suit you.

Some owners feel confident to continue independently after one session, while others find ongoing support helps build consistency, confidence, and steady progress.

You’ll leave each session knowing exactly what to work on, feeling supported, and seeing positive results in your relationship with your dog.

Ongoing Training Support

My Philosophy

  • Dog Welfare Always Comes First
I use reward-focused, science-led training that prioritises your dog’s emotional and physical wellbeing.

  • Training Dogs and Owners Together
You learn alongside your dog with practical skills that last a lifetime.

  • Building Strong, Trusting Relationships
Patience, kindness, and clear communication strengthen the bond between you and your dog.

  • Confidence Through Positive Learning
Supportive, enjoyable sessions help dogs grow in confidence and owners feel capable and reassured.

  • Professional, Accredited and Science-Led
I am a PACT accredited trainer and ABTC registered - the only UK register recognised by leading welfare organisations incl. Dogs Trust, RSPCA & Blue Cross (https://abtc.org.uk/about/)

  • Compassion Shaped by Real Experience
Experience with rescue organisations including the RSPCA and Soi Dog Foundation (Thailand) informs my empathetic, hands-on approach.

  • Promoting Responsible Dog Ownership
I empower owners to support happy, well-adjusted dogs and prevent unnecessary rehoming.

Why Train With Me?

Training should feel practical, supportive, and focused on real results you can see in everyday life.

I take a calm, encouraging approach so you can learn at your own pace in a safe, judgement-free space.

My methods are shaped by hands-on experience rehabilitating rescue dogs within an RSPCA shelter environment, as well as working with dogs alongside neurodivergent children. This has strengthened my belief in reward-based training, clear communication, and the importance of supporting both the dog and the individual needs of each family.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Some dogs find group classes overwhelming, and training in a class doesn’t always translate to real life. That’s why I work exclusively 1-2-1 - so every session is tailored to your dog, your lifestyle, and your goals.

I’m fully insured to work with all dogs, including legally restricted ('banned') breeds. I understand the additional responsibilities and limitations owners may face and work confidently within legal boundaries to support you and your dog responsibly.

At the heart of everything I do is your relationship with your dog - building trust, clarity, and confidence so you can enjoy a calmer, happier life together.
